这首《当你老了》是叶芝最出名的一首诗。

当你老了，头发白了，睡意渐沉，
倦坐在炉边，翻开这本书，
慢慢读着，追梦你当年的眼神
那轻柔的光和深沉的影；

太多人爱过你青春的片影，
爱你的美，以虚情，以真情，
只一人爱你朝圣者的心，
爱你哀戚的脸上岁月的留痕；

然后在炉栅边弯下了腰，
喃喃着，带着浅浅的伤感，
爱是怎样离去，怎样步上群山，
怎样在星斗与星斗间，藏起了脸。
